King is a New York Times best-selling
author and national HIV/AIDS activist.
His controversial expose on the
"down low" phenomenon
has catapulted him onto the international
stage. King's expertise has been
cited in over 100 national publications
including Jet, Ebony, People,
Sister 2 Sister, The New York Times
and Essence magazines.
King's workshops and presentations
are the most controversial and widely
discussed sessions at conferences
throughout the United States. He
received the 2004 Breakout Male
Author of the Year Award, from
the African American Literary Awards
Show.
In addition to being an author,
J.L. King is a philanthropist, publisher
and producer, and has founded The
Lillie Mae King Foundation.
The foundation is named after his
late, beloved mother, Mrs. Lillie
Mae King, and was established in
her honor, to provide financial
support for Black families who have
been impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Turner, an Essence

princess of hip-hop fiction, is

Hustler's Wife.

Biography
Jonathan Perry is the only black,
openly gay HIV+ student at an
HBCU anywhere in America. As
a very outspoken student activist,
Perry has organized numerous
forums on race and sexual orientation.
Perry's activism eventually
caught the attention of Oprah
Winfrey, when in April 2004,
she read his story on CNN.com
and asked him to share his life's
story on her show. He appeared
on the show "Men
Living on the Down Low"
and was later featured on BET's
Open Mic and BET.com, The
New York Times and POZ
magazines.
As one of America's Emerging
Activists, Jonathan Perry was
recently nominated for American
University's 2005 Richard L.
Schlegal National Legion of
Honor Award, to be presented
in Washington, D.C., April,
2005.
